New scrappy discovery

March 31st, 2008

Credit card Sizzix Die cutsI made a new scrappy discovery last night. Look what I made with my Sizzix Big Shot! Guess what I used to make these?? You know all those annoying credit cards offers you get in the mail, I used the plastic fake credit cards. I ran them through my Sizzix and they cut out Credit card Sizzix Die cutsperfectly. I just sandwiched the credit card in the machine like I would paper and viola I got a nice little plastic embellishment that looks a little funky and fun. It also worked on used gift cards too. I like different textures on my projects and excited about this new discovery, and its good recycling…gotta love that!

Here’s some other fun things you can cut in the Sizzix

  • Flattened cereal boxes - great way to make your own chipboard pieces
  • Thin metal & foil
  • Wall paper
  • Cork board
  • Craft foam
  • Felt
  • Fabric - add paper behind the fabric to help get a clean cut
  • Magnet sheets
  • Shrink plastic - great for making tiny charms!
  • Vellum
  • Clear acetate sheets
  • Sticky tape sheets - I like this for making glittery letters or shapes
  • Plastic page protectors
  • File folders
  • Thin rubber sheets - make your own stamps!

I’d love to hear about any tricks or interesting things you do with the Sizzix. XOOXO ~ MamaSheg

Show & Tell - Cheryl’s mini album

March 29th, 2008

Cheryl’s mini albumI made this cute little mini album for my sister’s birthday. She loves black and white so I used this fold-over mini album from Sweetwater Scrapbooking’s October 2007 kit. It was super easy and fast. The album is all chipboard, I just had to punch it out, fold it up and embellish. I added a velcro closure and some embellishments from my own stash. I like how it came out and I think she will like it a lot.

I was a little intimidated by this project when I first saw what we were creating but it was much easier than I thought it would be. Nika’s Easter

March 25th, 2008

Daddy & Nika Easter 2008Hope everyone had a fun Easter weekend. Despite both Nika and I having colds, Nika had a great Easter. She got 2 Easter baskets filled with goodies. She really enjoyed finding all the eggs hidden around the house. She spent the whole day playing with all the eggs, her baskets and new toys. One of her favorite things was to wear her Easter basket on her head. It was too cute!!

Show & Tell - Embrace life card

March 20th, 2008

This was the first project I did at stamp camp at is was super easy and fast. I also got to play around with a blender pen which I’d been wanting to try for a while. The coloring of the image was done by dabbing a blender pen into the lid of an ink pad, there was a pool of ink in the lid. This can be done by smooshing the lids together or you can take a re-inker and put a few drops on a plastic tray. It was really cool and I like the watercolor-type effect of the coloring method.
