Show & Tell - Toadily in Love Valentine

February 14th, 2008

After posting the card yesterday I realized I didn’t like it so much. Here is the Valentine Vlad got from me today. I love it and he loves it too.

Toadily in Love Valentine

Toadily in Love Valentine - Side view Toadily in Love Valentine - Close up

Toadily fun to make! I started with a piece of 8×8 cardstock and some scraps that were laying around on my desk. I had the cardstock out for a scrap page layout I was thinking about. All the paper scraps were leftovers from recent projects. I was flipping through some vintage images and found this {Toadily in Love} image…perfect! I started my design from there with my messy scraps scattered about. I should have taken a picture of my work space its embarrassingly messy. The cardboard behind the image is straight from my recycling can. The ribbon scrap should have been in the garbage being this small. It wound up being the perfect size for this. I stamped the letters on with jet black StazOn. The tiny butterfly I made with my Fiskars pop-up punch. The polk-a-dot tab is from My Minds Eye and I stapled that onto the cardboard. For the scallop window treatment, that is a piece of scalloped cardstock and I added the patterned paper and inked the edge with Versa Color, bamboo. This was adhered with 1/8 inch thick foam pop-up squares.

Show & Tell - Valentine card

February 12th, 2008

I’m so happy with how this Valentine came out. I’ve been trying to figure out what I was going to make for my honey. I went out to visit my adorable horse, Parker and as soon as I got home went straight to crafting. I didn’t realize my horse was so inspiring! She’s such a cutie…I’ll have to go to her for inspiration more often. Here’s my creation, it was really easy and quick to make.

Valentine Card

I started out with an 8×8 piece of purple cardstock and folded it in half and cut along the fold. With the 2 remaining pieces I scored and folded in half {these are now your cards}. The white textured cardboard is from my recycling can. When you buy your makeup at the department store it often comes in a box inside that box is usually padded with textured cardboard…that is where this cardboard came from. Next, I took my ribbon and wrapped it around the white cardboard and used glue dots to adhere. On the back of the white cardboard use tape to seal down on the ends of ribbon. For the scallop, I used my Stampin Up scallop punch. If you don’t have a punch you could trace a pattern and cut it out by hand. I adhered the wood heart with a glue dot and added stickles to the dots on the heart. For the red trim underneath the white cardboard, I used my Fiskars {flower} border punch. I love this tool…I just got it yesterday and it’s so great. I just punched along my red cardstock and trimmed it off and glued behind the white cardboard. This card comes together super quick.

Products used:

  • Wood heart {Heart Art - found these in the $1 bin @ Joanns}
  • Cardstock {DCWV}
  • Pink Paper {My Minds Eye}
  • Ribbon {Really Reasonable Ribbon}
  • Stickles {Frosted Lace}
  • Adhesive {Glue Dots & Scrapbook Adhesives}

Show & Tell - 12×12 {happy} page

February 11th, 2008

Thought I would finish using up some paper scraps. Here’s my {happy} layout. Check out yesterday’s post for the other layout made with the same papers.

12×12 happy scrapbooking layout

happy chipboard close-up flower close-up

This design came really quick. I spread out all the left over paper scraps and looked for a way to fit them together. I hid any holes with the buttons and flower embellishments. For the little butterfly on the flourish, I used the Fiskars butterfly pop-up punch. I just bought that today and already love it! On the flower embellishment I added some cardboard found in my recycling can. I like the dimension and texture it adds. On the flourishes I dabbed Antique Linen distress ink to tone down the color. I also chalked around the chipboard. The strips of journaling were done with a P-Touch label maker.

Show & Tell - 12×12 {Always Adorable} page

February 10th, 2008

I just completed my very 1st traditional 12×12 scrapbook page. I joined a local scrapbook club that meets once a month. Each month we get papers and stickers to complete a layout. Here’s my creation with some added things from my own stash.

Always Adorable 12×12 layout

Always Adorable - Chipboard Details Always Adorable - Embellishment Details Always Adorable - Tag Details

I really enjoyed designing this page and the whole creative process. Here’s a picture of the kit which has a coffee theme.January Kit I’m not a coffee drinker so needed to change it up a bit and make it my own. There’s journaling on the tag that’s tucked in behind the main part of the page. I also added a little hand stitching. I chalked around the mat, chipboard embellishment and letters. On the butterfly silhouette sticker I sponged a little Distress Ink {Antique Linen} on it as the color was a little bright. I love the Antique Linen distress ink. Any time I have something where the color is not right, a little Antique Linen usually fixes it right up!

He was and still is very sick. He was just released from a hospital in California. The Dean’s are extremely active in Waldport and Newport.
